Know the UTP cable and UTP cabling functions
Know the UTP cable. UTP cable or stands are Unshielded Twisted Pair is a type of cable that is used as a media liaison between computers and network equipment (switch or hub). UTP cable is one
popular type of cable that is used to create a computer network.
In the UTP cable contains four pairs (pair) cable that each of his twisted pair (twisted) or arranged spirally. All four cable pairs (eight wires) that the contents of the cable into the form of a single copper cable that has an insulator. These cables are not equipped with protective (unshilded) so less resistant to electromagnetic interference.
The mention of UTP cables refer only to the cord, whereas for connecting between computers takes a connector. Connector is usually attached to the UTP cable known as Connectors (8P8C) or commonly referred to as RJ-45 (RJ = registers jack).
Within each of these categories have different uses and functions. We probably will not use all the categories of UTP cable but we need to know the usability and functionality of each - each of these categories.
UTP cable Category 1
Is a UTP cable that has the lowest transmission quality, UTP cable category 1 is only designed to support connections or analog voice communication only. This cable is used in the period before 1983 serves to connect telephon analog Plain Old Telephone Service or the abbreviated POTS and ISDN.
UTP cable Category 2
Is a UTP cable that has a better transmission quality compared to the UTP cable Category 1, Category 2 UTP cable is designed to support digital voice and data communications. This second category UTP cable capable of transmitting data up to 4 MB per second (4Mbps). Generally this cable is used to connect between nodes in a network with a Token Ring network technology and protocol LocalTalk (Apple) from IBM. The electrical characteristics of which are owned by cable utp category 2 is not suitable when used as a wired network today.
UTP cable Category 3
Is a UTP cable that has a frequency of up to 16MHz, category 3 UTP cable is designed for data network and is commonly used for Ethernet protocol with data transfer speeds of up to 10 MegaBite per second (10 Mbps). This category cable using a 24-gauge copper wire in the configuration of 4 pairs of twisted wire and protected by insulation.
